The counselling body responsible for regulation of admissions to the medical and dental colleges in Assam is the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). The counselling for 85% State Quota seats is conducted by DME, while the counselling for admission to 15% All India Quota seats is held by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi, on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The counselling is conducted after the declaration of NEET results. Admissions to all the medical colleges in the state of Assam are done on the basis of candidates’
NEET UG scores.
As per the data provided by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI), there is a total of 726 MBBS and 40 BDS seats (inclusive of the All India Quota seats). The eligible candidates who wish to take admissions in the State Quota seats offered by these colleges have to appear before the selection board when
called upon, with a duly filled copy of the application form. The application forms are made available at the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.
The ‘All about NEET Counselling: Assam’ E-book has been designed with the aim to provide the candidates with an overview of the entire process of NEET admissions for the state of Assam including the total number of medical and dental colleges, seats, reservations, important dates, application and counselling procedure, fees, scholarships and admissions rules specific to the state. The cut-off ranks for NEET and marks for all the medical colleges in the state through NEET 2017 have also been included for the benefit of the students.
